Hard Tennis Cricket Tournament Rules
Format Overview:
- Team Size: 8 players per team (minimum 7 to avoid forfeit)
- Match Length: 8 overs per innings
- Ball Type: Hard tennis ball
- Overs per Bowler: Maximum 2 overs per bowler
- Tournament Style: Double Elimination → knockout rounds (based on team count)
Game Rules:
Toss:
- Coin toss determines which team bats or bowls first.
- Teams must be ready 5 minutes before the scheduled start.
Batting:
- Batters and bowlers must wear proper athletic shoes (no sandals or metal spikes).
- No deliberate obstruction, verbal abuse, or unsportsmanlike behavior.
- Retired hurt is permitted with umpire approval.
Bowling:.
- Only overarm bowling
- Underarm or chucking is not permitted and results in a no-ball.
- One bounce per over allowed; second bounce = no-ball.
- Each bowler may bowl a maximum of 2 overs.
- No-ball = 1 run + free hit (umpire’s discretion)
Fielding:
- Maximum of 2 fielders behind square on the leg side.
- Minimum of 2 players inside the 30-yard circle at all times.
- Any deliberate obstruction or unsafe conduct will be penalized.
Scoring Rules:
- Standard cricket scoring
- Wide/No-ball = 1 run + extra ball.
- Free hit awarded after no-ball.
Faults & Infractions:
- No-Ball: Overstepping, underarm delivery, or excess bouncers.
- Obstruction: Blocking fielders or running lanes deliberately.
- Verbal Abuse / Sledging: Results in a warning or match penalty.
- Late Arrival: More than 10 minutes late = possible forfeit.
Disqualification Rules:
- Teams or players violating the rules or showing repeated misconduct may be disqualified.
- Tournament officials have the final say in all disputes.
Additional Guidelines:
- Sportsmanship: All players must show respect to others, including opponents and officials.
- Modest Dress Code: No shorts above the knees or sleeveless tops.
- Warm-Up: Only in designated areas; do not disrupt active matches.
- Substitutes: Only allowed for injury and must be approved.
Equipment:
- Provided: Hard tennis balls and stumps.
- Players Must Bring: Bats, gloves, protective gear.
